EUROPEAN HOP FARMS

We have direct-from-the-farm relationships with a select group of growers in Germany, Slovenia and the Czech Republic who function almost as an extension of our Michigan farms. Over the years, we’ve expanded this tight network to include nearly a dozen independent farms and grower cooperatives, each chosen for their commitment to quality and a keen understanding of the needs of the craft brewer.

European Hops

Ensuring world-class quality hops

  • We visit the farms throughout the year to ensure the quality of the facilities and adherence to best practices.
  • We advise the growers harvest timing for each farm, field, and variety to meet our customers’ exacting requirements.
  • We hand select hops to ensure true-to-type characteristics and consistency from lot to lot.
  • We ensure refrigeration throughout the cold chain from harvest to processing.

Our European varieties

Through our Network Grower Program, we produce traditional European varieties such as Hallertau Mittelfrüh, Tettnang, and Saaz, as well as newer flavor hops, including Mandarina Bavaria, Hallertau Blanc, and Hüll Melon from the Hop Research Institute, Hüll.

We also sell entirely distinct varieties from Germany and Slovenia, including Hop Head Farms’ Grüngeistâ„¢, as well as Styrian Wolf, Styrian Dragon, and Styrian Fox from the Slovenian Institute of Hop Research and Brewing.
