A Welcome to Hop Head Bob

Posted by on July 27, 2012

This spring we had the pleasure of meeting Bob Benenson.  He is a writer going through a sort of rebirth.  Having been a political writer and editor for many years (something I try to stay far away from), Bob decided to make the move to more enjoyable things in life.  That move brought Bob, his wife Barb and cat Gracie out of Washington and to a place with a view like no other.  He now lives several stories up in the Chicago skyline overlooking Lake Michigan.  When we first sat down with Bob, it was for an interview on a story he was working on about Michigan grown hops.  He began by sharing his story with us.  We learned that Bob has a real Midwest nature about him.  He is a proud MSU alum and he has a great appreciation for good food and great craft beer.   You can read some of Bob’s  ” ramblings” about his experiences in Chicago and much more in his blog Cooler on the lakeshore.

Since our initial meeting, Bob has been out to Hop Head Farms a few times to check on our progress and we always end up talking about beer! ( How does that happen?)  From these conversations came the idea to have Bob do a series of interviews with Midwest brewers, and industry professionals and write about them.  The interviews will be posted on the Hop Head Farms Blog page.  Since Bob will be sharing on our blog, we ,Team Hop Head decided it would  be fitting to give Mr. Bob Benenson the honorary title of  ”HopHeadBob”.  We hope you all will enjoy this wonderful journalists pen as much we do.
